Known Ordering Client issues

This is a list of known issues found in the ordering process. The issues themselves do not adversely affect the ordering process for the general users, most are usability features which we are actively working on to improve.

Users who discover new issues or have constructive feedback should contact our User Service Helpdesk.

  • In the 'SELECT FORMAT' page, the ORDER CHANNELS section may be empty for some products. In the future an empty section will not be visualised.

  • Mac OS users may experience some layout issues with the order pages (for devices with retina display). A recommended workaround is to try a different web browser.

  • In the 'SELECT DATE/TIME' page, selecting a big time range in the 'From' and 'Until' text boxes may cause the browser to freeze. This is caused by a background database query to retrieve the total number of individual products for the date range. When entering dates specifying large time ranges should be avoided.

  • In the 'ORDER STATUS' page, sometimes clicking the link to the 'ORDER DELIVERY' page, where online orders can be downloaded, can result in a 404 error. Due the fluctuations of internet transfer speeds, the link could appear before the order items have been delivered to the Data Centre HTTP download server. Users are requested to try downloading this link again at a later time.

  • On the ‘ROI’ page, after filling the Lat/Lon values manually, sometimes the number of ‘Selected Products’ gets automatically updated to a different value. If you observe this incorrect behaviour, please click on the “Lower Lon” box and then click somewhere outside the boxes or on the ‘Next Step’ button. The search will be applied correctly this time.

  • Users ordering MSG15 and MTP15 with ROI might receive a shifted region due to wrong internal transformation of the Lat/Lon. Users are encouraged to contact the helpdesk in these cases, who will provide the correct line/pixels for the desired Lat/Lon, or alternatively they can order the full disk.

  • Users ordering full S3 products (with no band subsetting) are asked not to click on the bands selection displayed in the 'SELECT FORMAT' page, under the 'S3 CHILD PRODUCT ATTRIBUTES' box. Clicking in the any of the bands will likely result in a product delivery with band subsetting applied.

  • The product type “Poseidon-4 Altimetry Level 1A High Resolution - Sentinel-6” is only available for online delivery.

  • Users selecting “BUFR” as a child product for the following collections will receive an empty SAFE package as this is not available on the archive:.

    • “Poseidon-4 Altimetry Level 2 Low Resolution in NTC - Sentinel-6”

    • “Poseidon-4 Altimetry Level 2 Low Resolution in STC - Sentinel-6”

    • “Poseidon-4 Altimetry Level 2 High Resolution in NTC - Sentinel-6”

    • “Poseidon-4 Altimetry Level 2 High Resolution in STC - Sentinel-6”

  • The BUFR format is currently available for “IASI Combined Sounding Products - Metop” only for orbits before the 04.12.2019.

  • The BUFR format is currently unavailable for "HSCAT Winds at 25 km Swath Grid - Hai Yang 2B" and "HSCAT Winds at 50 km Swath Grid - Hai Yang 2B"

  • When cloning orders the ROI selection is currently not kept for “High Rate SEVIRI Level 1.5 Image Data” and “HRI Level 1.5 Image Data - MFG - 0 degree” orders. Users are encouraged to manually enter the bounding box specification while this issue is being solved.

  • The Sentinel-3 and Sentinel-6 tar files delivered by the Data Centre might decompress files with shortened filenames (e.g. S3B_OL_2_WFR____20220630T225727_20220630T230027_20220702T120329_0180_067_329_3240_MAR_O_NT_003.SEN3 instead of S3B_OL_2_WFR____20220630T225727_20220630T230027_20220702T120329_0180_067_329_3240_MAR_O_NT_003.SEN3.tar). This is a known limitation on some data decompressors, and users are encouraged to user a different decompressor (e.g. tar on Linux or the Windows command line) if they encounter this situation.

  • Following ASCAT products are currently not delivered in HDF5 if sensing time is after the 22.11.2022.

    • ASCAT Level 1 Sigma0 Full Resolution - Metop - Global - EO:EUM:DAT:METOP:ASCSZF1B

  • NetCDF format currently unavailable for the MSG Cloud Mask and MTP HRI Level 1.5 products.

  • “High Rate SEVIRI Level 1.5 Image Data” orders in HRIT format are currently missing the vis0.8 band. Users are advised to retrieve the data from EUMDAC.

  • The “Unix compression” option is currently not working properly. Users are advised to select other compression methods.

  • “GRAS Level 1B - Metop” orders in netCDF and BUFR format are currently not delivered.

  • “Polar Multi-Sensor Aerosol Optical Properties - Metop” orders in netCDF format are currently delivering empty data.
