EUMETSAT has a long experience in operating meteorological satellites with an extensive data catalogue going back to 1981. Recently, it has grown further still with the inclusion of data from the Copernicus Sentinel satellites and contributing missions; which includes atmospheric and marine products. The catalogue includes near real-time (NRT), delayed time (DT) and historic data, as well as climate data records (CDRs). The EUMETSAT Data Store brings all of these disparate data streams together, allowing them to be accessed from the same end-point. It provides users with access to data sets as soon as they are available, with no time delay in accessing archived data. The Data Store provides multiple ways in which users can interact with the catalogue, including a web user interface (WebUI) and application programming interface (API) options. The EUMETSAT Data Store will work in combination with other EUMETSAT data services, most notably the EUMETSAT Data Tailor and EUMETView, to allow users to customise their data as they retrieve it and to view products.
During its pilot phase, the EUMETSAT Data Store will feature a subset of data from the Metop and Meteosat satellites, along with downstream sea surface temperature (SST) products from OSI SAF. More products will be added incrementally, including those from Copernicus missions and the Satellite Application Facilities (SAFs), until the entire product catalogue is available.
